EN30B is a 4¼% nickel air/oil hardening steel. It achieves a good through hardness with high strength and toughness. It is capable of taking a good polish and is widely used as a plastic mould steel.

Forging:
Heat slowly and uniformly to uniformly to 1050C. After forging cool slowly.
Annealing:
Heat uniformly to 630/650C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace.
Hardening:
Pre heat slowly yo 650/700C and thoroughly soak. Continue heating to the final hardening temperature of 830/850C and allow the component to be heated through. Quench in oil or cool in air.
Tempering:
Heat uniformly and thoroughly at the selected tempering temperatures and hold for one hour per inch of total thickness.
